Dingwall is a large facility incorporating 6 Family homes, school hostel and a school that provides care for children currently in the care of Child Youth and Family Services. City Lights teams visit the kids monthly and put on a wide range of ‘activity days’ which include anything from games, BBQs, face painting, crafts and going off-site to movies, parks and more! The kids at Dingwall are in also in need of one-on-one mentorship support as they grow older and are forced to become independent at a very young age. We want to see each young person paired up with a suitable mentor, we are working with Brothers-in-Arms (www.brothersinarms.co.nz) to train and match mentors. Helping caregivers (foster parents, grandparent carers, guardianship carers, emergency/respite carers, or families with special needs children) that need some help with cleaning or do-it-yourself jobs around their home.
